Now it's two months, only four months left. You should have chance to avoid the actual gap if your employer like to help you. You can accept multiple W-2s in one account year. Many American guys have two or more jobs, one full-time, one part-time consultant. I remember one guy changed his job from CA to TX after filed 485. He already gave up his old 485 and began to apply labor again in TX. His lawyer told him his old 485 approved after one year. i don't know the detail, probably just lucky.
