Help: whether F-1 can be changed to F-2 when I-485 is pending

I submitted green card application (I-140 and I-485) in July like many others. However, our situation is a little bit complicated. I am the pricipinal applicant for I-140 (NIW) as a Ph.D. student (F-1). My wife is also F1 student now, but her OPT will expire this coming Febuary. I am concerned about my wife's status after her OPT ends. ANYONE has information about whether my wife (F-1) is able to apply for F-2 as dependent of F-1 (me) after she files I-485.
