Almost everything in Canada is much more expensive than that in the U.S.-- food, rent.
Food - I don't think so! In Toronto, you can easily find tons of authentic chinese food in elengant chinese restaurants all over the city (not just in chinatown). Also lots of Japanese, Korean, Thai etc restaurants. While in US, most chinese restaurants serve american chinese food :-( Only a couple of authentic chinese restaurants in big cities, and most are in chinatown only.
Rent - It is expensive in big cities like Tornoto, Vancouver. But when you go to small cities, Montreal, Halifax, the rent is really cheap.
After all, there is pros and cons. Like in US, big city has various selection of food, services etc, But realty is expensive. Small city has easy life, but not excited at all. It depends what type of life you want.
