Effect on I-485 after I-140 amendment?

My wife has a pending I-140 for EB2, we have filed I-485 forms last month.
But now we need to file an amendment on the pending I-140 to change the
category from EB2 to EB3. What will happen on the already filed I-485?
Should we file another I-485? or will USCIS link it to the amended I-140?
