J1 visa after waiver?

I just got a waiver for my J1 visa. But, my last DS2019 forms covers 3.5 year. I wonder if I can hold my current J1 up to 3.5 years. If so, is there any negative influence for me to apply for GC in future?

I appreciate any comments and suggestions!!!
