h1b time limited appointment

I just got an offer as a programmer from a small college. They will help me to apply for h1b, but I have to pay for the application fee. The problem is that this is a time limited appointment. As shown on the offer letter, this employment only lasts for about one year. Could this cause problem with my h1b application?
