I know your goal is to be his student at that university next year. If he can pay you starting form Oct. for H1, which is much higher than RA for a student, why don't you directly transfer to that university next spring, which will not bring risk to you. You can prepare or do some research that boss is interested in at current university now. You have long summer, can do something for him as a volunteer.
