Yes, the same problem happened to me.
I came to Sydney Australia for an international meeting. When I applied for H1B visa in the US Consulate in 6/22/07, they told me they have to check me. they said it would take 6-8 weeks or longer. I am in Sydney now, no friend, no relatives in the winter!

Anybody who have good suggestions, please tell me.
