Ok I do not know your situation. But generally, or the experience from my own case (actually my lawyer did most for me; the reasons I come here are to get more information.) you have to focus on your I140 first , especially like EB1a or NIW which is difficulty to say you can or not get them approved. It is good way after you got your 140 approval then you file your 485, your wife can join u later, I am pretty sure it is ok. Of course it is much better if you two can file together at the same time, because you need to do physical exam, finger print and so on.
It is only my personal opinion, please ask your lawyer. By the way, be careful to get and follow any suggestion from internet.
