I am writing to urge you to investigate the recent sudden drawbacks of Backlog Reduction from USCIS, which prohibits of immigrants with advanced degrees from acquiring their legal status.
On July 2nd, US Department of State made a sudden major drawback adjustment on its visa bulletin, sending all the employment based immigration cases to backlog status, only two weeks after its earlier June visa bulletin announcing to have all employment based immigration cases to be eligible for current processing.
Those immigrants that are affected by these roller-coaster policy changes are honest legal immigrants coming mostly from India, China. We have invested years in post graduate education, got our advanced degrees, and have been employed by US corporations, mostly in the fastest growing industries, IT, biotech, and etc. We are the tax payers that have contributed more to the country than any average American citizen families. We are the consumers that spend our hard-earned money in the US market, bring new business opportunities, and create new jobs in the US economy.
Every year there are tens of thousands of employment-based green card quota being wasted simply because of the notorious tardiness of the USCIS offices and bureaucracies among government offices. The DOS visa bulletin in June forecasted an effort to reduce the backlogs and make progress in granting the US corporation employees their green cards before the end of the fiscal year of 2007. Nevertheless, the sudden adjustment published has thrown all the immigrants our hopes as well as our many visits to immigration doctors and lawyers into the dumpster. Promises are broken easily, and we are troubled deeply.
We believe with yours and many others’ attention to this matter would bring the endless bureaucracy to an end. Not only the immigrants, our next generations, and all the beneficiary of your action will appreciate your effort!
