Please notice that we were just discussing the cases that you apply 485 here and your spouse/kids follow to join from China.

I understand you can concurrently file 485 and 824, but my topic is for “following to join” when 485 is pending.

There are a lot of scenarios to apply I-824. Sometimes the part 3 of I-824 could be for beneficiary back in China. For example, if you are US citizen filing GC for your parent(s) back in China but your parents would like to apply permanant visa at Guangzhou, then the beneficiary in part 3 is your parent.
