Is there any way I can get a copy of my 2004 tax returns (1040s) and my W2s? I cannot find my own copies and I will need a copy of these documents soon. Could I get in touch with the government? Do can I do? What options do I have?

Hi Elisa,
The IRS charges $39 (in 2004, could be higher in 2005) for a complete copy of a tax return, including Forms W2. Request copies on Form 4506, Request for Copy or Tran of Tax Form.
They will provide without charge a tran of your tax form. It is a computer-generated list of line items on a series 1040 form.
You can call 1 800 829-1040 to request a tran or ask them to send you Form 4506. You can download and print the form at their website www.irs.gov. Click on individuals and then on forms and publications and then on forms.
