Let me outline your situation:

You are in Canada, but have an H-1b visa right now; and you want to go to US next week and come back later; then you will go to US July to start your employment, right?

You can use H-1b visa to enter US next week, and you will have an I-94. Now, you are considered in US. If you leave US and come back in one month (30days), you don't need a new visa. You valid I-94 will allow you to enter US;but if you leave US more than a month, you need to use your H-1 visa again.
