applying H4 while on AOS ok?

I was on F1 based OPT and then filed I-485 last winter. Now I recieved I-485 RFE and fear that I do not have adequate time to the material by the deadline, so I may be out of status in 2 months.

Should I transfer to H4 now (based on my hu*****and) to prepare for the denial of my 485? Will this affect my I-485 status?

I am sure that eventually I will have the RFE material ready. It may need one extra month.
