go to the CIS website about Eb1b, there is a clear statement of what is considered permanent. Only the employer issued a letter is not enough. In industry, there are also postdoc like position, some time called investigatior, researcher, or scientist, which is not enough. Basically you have to be a group leader and in charge of a certain team work to be considered a real permanent job. Since you just graduate and I am kinda in the same field, I throw above doubts. If you really hold a permenant job, then it worth a try, but you have to have the company's full support and work with good lawyers too.
If I were you, I would eb1b and NIW at the same time, anyone works will help.
Good luck.
