my dilemma

Learn a lot here after sitting for a whole afternoon, reading the discussions. I also want opions to my situation.
My gf (or fiancee) have just started a PhD study in a top us univ, while I am starting mine in HK, which will last for 3 yrs normally. Ever since we were apart,I have hard times and fall in low mood. At times I think I should give up everything here and start all over to join her in us. After all, I believe I can get sth there by my background, though maybe not so good as here (steady scholarship, rather short period study...)To me all this things are not as important as 1% of her, but we have to strugle for our better lives in future, and earning my degree first may do good for us in the long run. that is the reason I persuade myself again and again.
Then what I can consider now is my future plan. The most ideal results I can expect is getting a post dr. offer in my gf's city, or a job opportunity in us.I'm also thinking of the canada immigration, but the problem is that i have totally no work experience by now. (I want to ask that, the TA work in university do not count, isn't it?) So according to the articles here, I'd better not to submit my application before I start my career.
So, besides study hard, what can I do now?
