Question to xiaobaitu: surrender which I-94?

My hu*****and will visit China and come back using AP. He also has H-1B extendsion approved, and its I-797A form contains a blank I-94. I wonder which I-94 or both he must surrender when he leaves the US? This blank one or the old one issued last entry with stamp? Thanks.
