EAD help

I have to use EAD to work for a company. My LP is currently working in a company using OPT....If I use EAD, I lost my current H1B. My wife filed 485 depended on my application. If my wife used up OPT and cannot get H1b this year, she has to use EAD to work. My question is that if my wife quits or lost job later, can she legally stay in USA just holding EAD or 485 pending without other status like H1b, or F1?
