EAD pending - help!

I need your suggestion and help!! It is an urgent issue.

My current status is 485 pending and I use EAD to work. My current EAD will be expired on 4/15/07; I have ted my renewal application to TSC two months ago that was my fourth application. However, my case is still pending until now. Can I still keep to work during this pending period? I checked my previous EAD cards and found that the validation days are always continuous. There is no gap. It means my renewal card is supposed to be 4/16/07 to 4/15/08.

Actually, I talked with my department director about this issue. She thinks I can keep to work until USCIS make decision. I am not sure about this particular issue. Can somebody have similar experience give me some suggestion? I would greatly appreciate any help you could give me.
