H-1B want to visit home, will I be rejected at the embassy?

Greetings!
I am a new H-1B and want to visit parents in China. The advisor from International Center of the University said I will have no problem in getting back to US, but many Chinese friend said it is risky. Anybody here has similar experience or advice to share? Thanks ahead of time.
