Help! H-1 B extension meets security check and endanger my statu

I am in a college!

My H-1B extension had been ted to CIS by our international office last September, and so far haven't got approval notice. Intl. Office inquired CIS and responsed that I am under security check!

But based on the 240 days rule, I cannot work if my H-1B approved by May, just one month later!

If anyone has similar experience and what should we do at this stage? Thanks for any suggestions!
