I contacted local congressman, but it take quite long. It may or may not work. I don't know other solutions, and you can try though. Nothing to lose though.

Here is my experience, hopefully it would help you:
Sept 30, 2006 Ask congressman to initiate inquiry to FBI
Nov 30, 2006 Ask congressman to follow up inquiry
Jan 24, 2007 Received a letter from Congressman with FBI's copy stating my name check is still pending
March 2, 2007 received letter from Congressman with FBI's copy stating that my name check has been processed and forwarded to DC office on Jan 18, 2007.
