hi xiaobaitu do you know the answer?

My friend is working for a company with H1-B visa. He would like to quit the job first and then find another job. He would like to know how long the gap between the two jobs is. After he get the new job, should the new employer file a new H1-B application for him or just transfer the H1-B visa?
