AP question

My AP will expire on 08/08 this year and I plan to use it going back to China and be back on 08/04, just a couple of days before its expiration. Is there going to be any problem? I remember someone said in this forum before that we had better leave "enough" time .....
Anybody has any experience? Thanks a lot!
