Your post attacted me while I went over the postings. My suggestion, do not even think about finding a 'job' in US, unless a faculty position in university. Your experience and what you value the most won't let you feel happy in industries, and you won't feel happy either if you work under somebody else, for example as a 'research associate', 'research professor', what ever title, if not tenure tracked.
Startting work in US at age 45, your social security will be minimum and you need to work very hard to save money for your retirement.
You should work harder to get more fundings in China and you will feel better. If you earn $60K or less now in Canada, I think you have chance to break it even by working full time in China, but you need work at least 9 months a year in China.
Good Luck.
