You can try to enter USA with old visa from Canada,but

if your new I-797 require you go to US consulate to get a new visa,the way won't work.
If you are considered out of status more than 6 months,you
won't be allowed to enter the country within 3 years.If the
date is counted since last Aug,it's risky
