I wrote a letter to Laura Bush in November 2006 and got a similar reply from FBI in January. But the letter says that "we know how important your name request is to you, However, the FBI must also balance the need for national security in preparing the response to each these requests. The FBI's homeland security mission requires that our name check process be primarily focused on an accurate and thorough result.."
As a result, my name check is still in process. No progress at all. By the way, the letter I received is from Jody Nescola at FBI. Maybe she does not take this kind of letters into serious consideration.
