When you go to the civil surgeon for medical exam for greencard purpose, you usually have to pay out-of-pocket.
However, when the civil surgeon asks for some side items, such as X-Ray, immunization shots, etc., you may go to your own doctor, which can be covered by insurance. And it can bring down the whole cost of medical exam.
You might want to combine your X-Ray, immu. shots with your annual physical so that it's easier for your doctor to file a claim to insurance company.
You may also claim any of your out-of-pocket expense in your medical flexible spending account as tax deduction.
Medical Insurance usually doesn't cover the cost of civil surgeo
