yes, that's what our school internatial office told me. They will keep H1 valid as long as I still work there, whether I use AP or not. When I ask how about I use EAD for second job, they recommend me to use EAD for all positions. However, if I485 is denied, they can still re-instate H1. Not sure how it will work this way.

One thing for sure, AP will NOT invalid your H1 if you still work for same employer.
