485 service request...

My 485 RD is June 22, 06 and current NSC PD is July 13, 06. Called USCIS for a service request and got the following response in mail:

"The processing of your case has been delayed. A check of our records establishes that your case is not yet ready for decision, as the required investigation into your background remains open."

My questions to the gurus in this forum:

1. Does it mean I am under FBI name check now? Is "background investigation" the same thing as name check?

2. What actions can I take now besides waiting? For those who got the similar mail: what is most likely happen in the next update (LUD)? And when could that happen from now?
