less than 9 months to land Canada?

I got back my passport with immigrant visa from Canadian Consulate General in New York yesterday. The visa was issued on January 9th and will expire on September 19th. This means I have to land Canada in less than 9 months instead of 1 year I knew before. Does anybody have same situation as me? Thanks!
