請教各位高手:How can I keep my wife in USA

I'm a GC holder. I've applied for US citizenship and my case is still pending. My wife is F1 with OPT expiring this Feburary12. She tried to apply for some college to maintain her F1, but failed.
My question is: by the time I got neutralized, can I apply for GC for my wife even her status went illegal? Will my wife not be allowed to enter US with the GC? Some of the previous postings indicate that people need to have legal status when filing GC application, otherwise they may have problem reenter US. Must she leave US?How can I do to keep her here?
