Help needed for my EAD application

I hold F-1 and got my first EAD based on my I485 pending (my sponse applied NIW last year) on Nov. 2005. But I didn't use it. still be RA with F-1 Visa. Recently I found a job and applied renew EAD (The old EAD just expired), I just got a message from NSC requesting additional evidence. Has somebody else experienced this situation? Thanks. For me, it looks strange to require REF for EAD.
