My mom just got her visa last month from Shanghai and I went through all the process, just some tips here:
1. The Telecode you can write in the end, I don't think it matters whether you write them after each character or in the end. (My mom wrote them by hand)
2. you can print out multiple DS156 in case you make mistakes when you are writing the Chinese charaters, etc. They will have the same bar code.
3. make sure that you print out the form back and forth,(2 pages in one sheet of paper) it was stated in the website that they want it that way. I didn't do that at the time of the printing, so I had to use the copy machine to make them that way.
4. I filled the form and printed them out in US, and Fedex them along with other supporting documents to Shanghai, my mom filled in the Chinese later on - No questions were asked from the VO.
