While waiting for LC, if you lost your job, nothing is left.
While waiting for PD, if you lost your job, at least there is a good chance you will keep your PD, that makes huge difference. Not to mention you can extend H1 indefinitely (That's even better than EAD, since you only renew h1 every 3 years, instead of renewing ead every year.)
