A tough question, Please help!

My former employer filed LC petition for me in May, 2004. Having thought it was hopeless to wait for the LC to get out of the BEC, I quit my job and started working for another employer early this year. I filed an NIW based I-140 in March, 2006 and it was approved in August. Now I am waiting for the priority date to file I-485. Unexpectedly, I received my LC approval notice from BEC today! Since my priority date for LC is 2004, I am wondering if it is possible to link my approved NIW-based I-140 to the priority date on my LC? Do I have to go back to work for the former employer and have another I-140 filed and approved before I can link the two? Is there alternative way to do it? Any suggestions are appreciated! Thank you!
