We are on the same boat. My wife is H4->F1.

Since she had been H4 for more than 5 years before going to F1, even we have not file I-140 yet, I guess there is still chance to be rejected due to "Immigration purpose". Like your case, if the VO askes if "you or your family filed immigration pertition", how are going to reply?
