i agree with you.

we should do something to have our voice heard in congress although many people think that the congress does not care about legal immigrants. As a matter of fact, the congress does not even care about ordinary americans either. Senators and reps only care about the people who pay for their campaigns.

We ourselves cannot change the minds of those lawmakers. But there are things we can do to help those lobbiests whose interests are related to immigration issues.
1. We can call and write to the lawmakers, addressing the benefits legal immigrants bring to US.
2. We should educate the lawmakers that if the current immigration situation continues, many US companies would outsource to other countries, lowering the taxes paid to US and reducing jobs.
3. We can also try to persuade our employers to write and call those lawmakers.
4. ...

In fact, I myself would do these things once the congressmen come back to work. Although my own effort cannot have big effect, I believe with all our efforts, we can make our lives different.
