H1B and I485 can coexist

You can have I-485 pending and extend/reapply H1B. INS staff will tell you it is a valid situation. You can check out murthy.com for some explanation. By the way, not all lawyers give reliable advice. I heard lawyers say that you lose H1B after applying I-485. I doubt INS service desk will give this answer.
