Why My wife’s I-485 is separate from mine?

I concurrently filed I-140 and I-485 to CSC in Sept 2005. And it took a year my I-140 was approved. The lawyer just filed my wife’s I-485 to CSC, and found that it was forwarded to NSC (LINxxxxxxx). Then how CIS will process her case since it is apparently separate from mine? Also where to apply for the EAD? Thanks
