Everytime I applied my H1B visa in HK, I don't think you have problem to get the visa to come back to US. However you do have to wait at least 1 business day to get back your visa. I think you can explian your situation to them, most people are so nice there, they may give the visa to you the same day afternoon, It happened on me last year. I told them i have to go back to China to attend my grandpa's funeral. I remeber i paid HK$20 and got back my passport and visa the same day afternoon.
