When I filed my application, I only had one second author English paper without citing(my fault, it was cited for 8 times but I did not find out) and around 9 Chinese papers which were cited for 10 times, but I was asked to write lay language statement for my progress in my research work for a famous meeting for two times and my abstracts were reported in more than ten websites.7 references, two are independent.
Further evidence:
One journal reviewer, 3 more English papers, one is first author and another co-first author, one second author. One English paper with 11 citings.The first author paper was selected for the journal cover and was reported by many websites including some famous stations. 4 more independent references.
