H1B transfer, asking Xiao Bai Tu

My friend told me that H1B for working at Univ. as Postdoc can be transferred to working in a company. Is that true? He is about to hire the lawyer who claim he can work out the case.

Please help me clearfy this, I might face this situation later, too.
