I'v been for many years. I once helped many friends at the same situation.
According to the policy, there should be no any gap between your old J1 and new J1 program. You can not start your new J1 program even a day later. Otherwise, you must leave the US. Please must be very careful about this.
It will be a disaster for you if you follow another reply for your poster.
