To Mytwocents & Xiaobaitu: H-1B renewal

My first 3-year H-1B will be expired at the end of this year. My attorney is working on my H-1B renewal. If I can't get my H-1B renewal approved before my current H-1B expiration date, will I be out of status? Is there a fast track (like Premium Processing) for H-1B renewal? Thank you for help.
