綠卡申請, 請教

各位, 我老公是2002/10遞交申請勞工卡的, 到現在音訊全無. 我問他綠卡申請倒底是個什麽樣的過程，他也不知道，也不關心，總說律師知道就可以了。
我想問問大家哪裏可以查到相關資料，這樣我心裏有個數。 謝謝。
