Xiaobeitu and other experts, please give me some suggestions in

My I-140/I485 RD, 9/2005, 140 was approved last month, 485 is pending. I will change a new title from post-doc next week. Yesterday, boss told me, appointment with new title (assistant scientist) is only three months since his poor financial situation, and he can continue to support me if he gets a new funding at December of this year. If I have a green card, he can support me as less 100% salary. My daughter is studying as 11 grad in high school, I do not have other choice, I must keep a job until 485 is approved.
Now, Should I (1) apply EAD for backup?(2) start look for a new job?
What a good idea for my urgent situation? Please give me some suggestions.
Your help is highly appreciated.
