1)If you can still keep your position in the merged company, then no problem. If you are unemployed due to the merging, you need find a new job using your EAD.
2) It's better for your dependent to keep his (her) H1B so that even your 485 is denied, you can still become H4.There is no reason for her to use EAD since she has H1B unless she find a new job which doesn't sponsor H1B.
