Question about current immigration status

We used AP to return to US but have not yet used EAD. What is our current immigration status, H1b/H4? Or is it something else like Paroled in? What if we start using EAD, how are we going to describe the immigration status then? I'm filling the 131 and 765 forms and was a little confused. Thank you very much.
