I have been desparate to find what kind of document I need to send USCUS. Here is what happened to me: divorced several years ago, 民事調解書is the only thing I got from court and the wording in it is ambiguous, I didn't notice it because I don't know anything about this kind of legal document, but I am sure I was divorced... Sent it to uscis with a translation that was later interpreted as not mentioning anything like"absolute divorce", so asked the translation company to do it again, this time with "absolute divorce", but uscis had their certified translator do it again and concluded there was no divorce. Now they are asking for additional evidence, otherwise they will reject my case. I thought a notary would work, called beijing notary office yesterday and was told that notary only certify the 調解書 is valid, wouldn't say there truly was a divorce. I have read other people's comments here, seems there is indirect notary about marriage, how come beijing notary said no to me? If the notary only includes a translation of the 調解書, i don't think uscis would accept it, because direct translation doesn't say the exact words they look for.
Everybody please give your comments or please give an example of a notary on divorce, if you can? I am really really desparate now...

如果一方不在國內,或是雙方有分歧,必須通過法院才能離婚
